30 ml (2 tbsp.) Oil
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
500 g (1 lb) Italian sausage or chopped peeled (if desired strong)
1 796 ml (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
15 ml (1 tbsp.) Sugar
60 ml (3/4 cup) ketchup
1 box of 157 g (5 1/2 oz) tomato paste
125 ml (1/2 cup) chopped fresh basil or ...
15 ml (1 tbsp.) Dried basil
10 ml (2 tsp) oregano
750 ml (3 cups) twist (gemelli) or other
Heat oil in a saucepan. Saute onion and garlic about 5 minutes over medium heat.
Add the sausages and cook until meat is no longer pink.
Add tomatoes, sugar, ketchup and tomato paste. Season with basil and oregano. Salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve with pasta cuitent already.
