3 cups rolled oats organic. Can be used in addition to oats (which will always "base") other cereal flakes: quinoa, rye ...
½ cup sugar or brown sugar, more or less according to taste. You can also use liquid honey.
1 large knob of butter or margarine.
In a skillet, melt butter, add the oatmeal and sugar or honey. Mix thoroughly.
Grill over high heat, stirring constantly: the sugar will caramelize, rolled oats are lightly brown.
Remove from heat, continue stirring for a few minutes to separate the lumps, then let cool.
The mixture will become crisp when cold.
Optional ingredients, to improve:
chocolate chips: to add off the heat, but in the hot mixture.
nuts: chopped nuts, chopped almonds, shredded coconut, raisins, dried apricots, dried figs.
spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg.
Fresh fruit: to add at the last moment, in the mixture cool completely.
The mixture of cereals and dried fruits can be kept for several weeks in an airtight container.
