2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cold butter or margarine -- cut into 12 pieces
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
14 chocolate sandwich cookies -- broken
Heat oven to 375°. Grease six 4 x 1/2-inch muffin-top cups (see Note). Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Mix egg, milk and vanilla in small bowl. Stir into flour just until blended. Gently stir in cookies. Spoon into prepared cups, dividing batter equally.
Bake in 375° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centers comes out clean. Remove muffins from pans to wire racks to cool. Note: You may also make these in twelve 2 1/2-inch muffin-pan cups. Bake in 400° oven for 12 minutes.
