1 cup all-purpose flour
1 / 4 cup sugar
1 / 2 cup firm butter
2 eggs
1 1 / 2 cup packed brown sugar
1 / 4 cup melted butter
1 tsp. tablespoon vinegar
1 tsp. teaspoon vanilla
2 / 3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
1 / 2 cup golden raisins
walnut halves (optional)

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, mix flour with sugar. Add 1 / 2 cup butter, using pastry blender or two knives, work the mixture until it has the consistency of coarse crumbs. Pack this mixture into a 9 inch square pan aside, ungreased. Bake 10 minutes.

In a medium bowl, lightly beat eggs. Stir in brown sugar, 1 / 4 cup butter, vinegar and vanilla. Add nuts and raisins and mix well. Pour over hot crust.

Bake 30 minutes or until mixture is taken. Cool on a rack in pan. Cut into squares and garnish with a walnut half, if desired.

Makes 9 large or 36 small squares.
