1 pound dried pea beans
1 medium onion -- chopped fine
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup bown sugar - (packed)
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon leaf basil
Salt -- to taste
1 pound smoked ham, bacon or salt pork, -- diced
Completely soften beans. Drain and stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into crockpot. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 12 hours (on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours).
